artisanal fare + communal dining

Amber Poupore is, without question, the vegan queen of Detroit.  After years of managing Royal Oak vegetarian groundbreaker Inn Season Cafe, she broke off on her own to open Cacao Tree Cafe, where she’d let her vegan cheffery shine.  The response was overwhelming.  She’d not just opened a business, she’d filled a gap, provided a sorely needed service.  Five successful years later, she decided to spread the vegan love to the northern suburbs, where she opened The Clean Plate, an immediate hit.  With all these accomplishments, she’s still happiest performing cooking demos and educational outreach, because a healthy lifestyle begins at home, and a nourishing dinner out on the town is just the beginning.  She’s recently learned from her landlord that The Clean Plate iis being displaced by corporate retail.  So, once again, we have a community with one less healthy option, but a bunch more junk to buy.  If there’s one tiny positive to find in this sea of negatives, it’s that she has just a little extra free time while figuring out her next move.  Lucky for us, she’s spending some of it in Hamtramck this October 12th,, 13th, and 14th.  Because, when life gives you lemons, make a delicious 5-course meal for strangers...and maybe something lemony for yourself.
