artisanal fare + communal dining

Doug Hewitt had been helming the kitchen at Terry B's in Dexter since they opened in 2006, gaining a loyal following, glowing reviews, and respect from his peers the entire time.  Sandy Levine had been helping to lay the groundwork for the craft cocktail movement at his successful sophisticated speakeasy (say 3 times fast), The Oakland Art Novelty Company, in Ferndale.   Sandy wanted to branch out, combining his love for fine drink with his love for fine food.  He saw the perfect complement to his cocktails in Doug's food, and a team was formed.  The product of their union was what has become one of the most popular and beloved restaurants in Detroit, Midtown's  Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails.

Executive Chef Jeremy Paquin is a Michigan boy and life long cook.  In his twenties, he leaned toward "fussy food with 80 ingredients", but his thirties brought a much different outlook on the food he cooks.  Seasonal dishes made from the freshest of local ingredients became the focus.  2008 marked the opening of his Muskegon farm-to-table forerunner Mia & Grace, where he ran every aspect of the business together.  A successful, and very labor-intensive, 7-year run brought about the decision to scale back a bit, allowing more time for family and friends.  Mia & Grace transitioned into a brick oven pizza parlor, and Jeremy took a job cooking at Grove, 40 miles away in Grand Rapids.   He quickly moved up to the Executive Chef position, where he guided the kitchen to 4 consecutive Grand Rapids Restaurant of the Year awards.  Jeremy can be found there today, serving up some of the loveliest food the region has to offer.

Well, both of these boys are (revolver) favorites, both guest and staff, and just so happen to be quite fond of each other's food.  What to do, what to do.  Oh, got it!  How about a co-headlining dinner, where they team up using the best of Detroit's fall harvest and cook the tastiest, freshest food you've had all year?  Yeah, let's do that.  (on sale now)
